Migrate from QuickBooks to ERPNext

Export the chart of accounts and a transaction history your edition allows, usually CSV or a report.

Time: A sitting for a small set of files. Longer if several people share the account.

Parts of this guide depend on a product screen that moves between releases. The fallback path in the steps is the one to trust.

Export

  1. Step 1

Export while you still have access

Export the chart of accounts and a transaction history your edition allows, usually CSV or a report.

  2. Step 2

Keep a copy that is not the old account

Put the export on a disk you control before you cancel. The export is the only rollback.

Import

  1. Step 1

    Bring a sample into ERPNext

Enter opening balances in ERPNext and import the history you actually need.

  2. Step 2

    Then do the rest

If the sample looks right, run the rest. If it does not, stop and fix the mapping. Do not cancel the old account in the middle.

What breaks

  • What does not come with you

Payroll subscriptions, bank feeds, and sales-tax filings are a separate project.

  • People and permissions

Accounts on the new tool are new accounts. Sharing has to be set up again.

This guide is a path, not a promise that every setting moves. The steps were not re-checked against a live click-path on 2026-10-15.
