Migrate from Notion to Docmost

Export

   Export from Notion

   Open Settings, then Export all workspace content. Choose Markdown & CSV. Include subpages. Notion writes one Markdown file per page and a CSV for each database view it can flatten.

   Download the zip

   Large workspaces email a link instead of downloading immediately. Unzip it locally and keep the original zip until the new wiki looks right.

   List what is not in the zip

   Page history, comments, permissions, synced blocks, and formulas are not in the export. Screenshot or copy anything you still need from those.

Import

   Create a Docmost space

   Self-host Docmost or use whatever hosted edition you have chosen. Make one space per Notion teamspace you still care about.

   Recreate the page tree

   Docmost does not ingest a Notion zip as a perfect clone. Create pages and paste Markdown, or use the import control in your version if it accepts Markdown files. Check the import menu rather than assuming a one-click Notion connector.

   Rebuild databases by hand

   Open each CSV in a spreadsheet, decide which columns still matter, and create the matching structure in Docmost only where it has an equivalent. Relations and rollups will not reconnect themselves.

What breaks

• Notion databases

  Linked databases, formulas, rollups, and multi-select relations do not become a Docmost equivalent. If the workspace is mostly databases, Docmost is the wrong destination. Look at Baserow or NocoDB for that half.

• Permissions and history

  Everyone's access and the page history stay behind in Notion. Re-invite people and accept that the audit trail starts over.

• Embeds and synced blocks

  Google Drive previews, tweets, and synced blocks become dead text or a link. Open the important ones and replace them.
