   Export each audience

   In Mailchimp, export the audience as CSV. Include tags and the status column so you can drop unsubscribed and cleaned addresses.

   Export templates you will reuse

   Download the HTML of campaigns you still send. Most drag-and-drop templates will be rebuilt, not imported cleanly.

   Screenshot journeys

   Automations do not export. Capture the triggers and delays before you cancel.

Import

   Step 1

   Stand up Mautic and SMTP

   Install Mautic, then connect a transactional SMTP service. Send a test to yourself before you import the list.

   Step 2

   Import the CSV

   Map email, name, and tags. Import only subscribed contacts. Put unsubscribed addresses into Mautic's do-not-contact list if you must keep them for suppression.

   Recreate one campaign

   Build the next newsletter from scratch and send it to a test segment before you touch a journey.

What breaks

• Automations

  Customer journeys, delays, and branch logic are rebuilt by hand. This is the real cost of leaving Mailchimp.

• Deliverability

  Your new SMTP domain needs SPF, DKIM, and a slow ramp. The list's reputation does not move with the CSV.

• Reports and signup forms

  Old open and click history stays in Mailchimp. Replace embedded forms and confirm the double opt-in mail is the new one.
