Migrate from Auth0 to Keycloak

Export users if the tenant allows a hash your new directory can read.

Time: A sitting for a small set of files. Longer if several people share the account.

Parts of this guide depend on a product screen that moves between releases. The fallback path in the steps is the one to trust.

Export

  1. Step 1

    Export while you still have access

    Export users if the tenant allows a hash your new directory can read. Otherwise plan a reset.

  2. Step 2

    Keep a copy that is not the old account

    Put the export on a disk you control before you cancel. The export is the only rollback.

Import

  1. Step 1

    Bring a sample into Keycloak

    Recreate applications in Keycloak and point each app at the new issuer.

  2. Step 2

    Then do the rest

    If the sample looks right, run the rest. If it does not, stop and fix the mapping. Do not cancel the old account in the middle.

What breaks

  • What does not come with you

    Auth0 Actions and marketplace connections are rewritten.

  • People and permissions

    Accounts on the new tool are new accounts. Sharing has to be set up again.
